Abstract
Background: Globally, the number of people with diabetes mellitus is increasing every year. In type II diabetes, individuals experience a decrease in sensitivity to insulin resistance and insulin secretion, causing an increase in blood glucose levels or hyperglycemia. Diabetes Mellitus which has impaired skin integrity such as tissue death can cause diabetic ulcers which are often known as gangrenous wounds. The goal of wound care is to detect and treat wounds, and avoid wound complications. One of the wound treatments that can be given is by using honey. Objective: Describe nursing care for type II diabetes mellitus patients with nursing problems of damage to skin integrity through wound nursing innovations with honey in Palang Biru Kutoarjo Hospital Kutoarjo. Method: This scientific writing uses a descriptive case study design. The case study subjects were 5 patients with type II diabetes mellitus, who had problems with impaired skin integrity. Collecting data with observation techniques, interviews and documentation studies. Results: Of the five patients after wound care with honey, the BWAT score averaged from 36.8 to 13.4 (wound generation). Conclusion: The results of applying wound care with honey are effective in helping wound healing in DM patients.
