Abstract
Background, Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Indonesia is included in the 3 lists of countries that have the highest tuberculosis cases in the world with 9.2% of cases and in Central Java, especially in Kebumen Regency, more than 500 tuberculosis cases were found in 2022. Setiawan (2015) one of the factors for the failure of tuberculosis therapy in the Kebumen Regency is caused by the appearance of side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT) which can affect treatment success. Research Objective, This study aims to determine the level of compliance to taking medication, side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs and the relationship between side effects of tuberculosis medication and compliance to taking medication. Research Methods, This research is a prospective study with descriptive correlative a cross-sectional observational method using data from questionnaires. The Result, The results of this study were 59 compliant patients (98.3%) and 1 noncompliant patient (1.7%). Mild side effects felt by all patients is reddish urine (100%) while the most severe side effects felt were redness of the skin felt by 5 patients (8,3%). There was no relationship between the side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs and compliance to taking medication seen from the p-value of 0.737> 0.05. Conclusion, There was no relationship between the side effects of tuberculosis drugs and compliance to taking medication in tuberculosis patient at The Kuwarasan Health Center. Recommendation, Future researchers are expected to be able to conduct research on socio-demographic factors of tuberculosis patients with compliance to taking medication or using anti-tuberculosis drugs with other drugs.
