Abstract
Background:Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of body cells that can attack anyone. One of the most common cancers in men is prostate cancer. Nearly 1.4 million new cases and 375,000 deaths of prostate cancer worldwide. Individuals who are diagnosed with prostate cancer experience stress due to many factors such as fear of death. In addition, there is a change in identity, undergoing treatment and a cancer diagnosis that can make a person feel less than a man so that it affects changes in self-image in prostate cancer patients. Research purposes: This study aims to describe the level of stress and changes in self-image of post-prostate cancer patients at the Banjarnegara Islamic Hospital Research methods: The research design used in this research is descriptive research,the number of samples is 45 with the techniquetotal sampling.Researchers used a research instrument in the form of the DASS-42 questionnaire (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale), and self-image questionnaire. Data analysis using univariate analysis. Research result: The results showed that the most age was 66-75 years (73.3%), 39 (86.7%) first underwent an operation program, the highest education was junior high school 20 respondents (44.4%), 31 respondents experienced mild stress (68.9%), low self-image changes in patients with postoperative prostate cancer as many as 25 respondents (55.6%). Conclusion: Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there is stress and changes in self-image in prostate cancer patients
