Abstract
Background: Surgery is a medical procedure performed to treat problems that occur in the body. One form of surgery is a laparotomy, or surgery performed on the stomach. The main treatment needed in post-laparatomy patients includes early mobilization exercises, namely adjusting and moving the patients position gradually.The success of Early mobilization exercises in post-laparatomy patients really depends on the role and support of the family. Objective: The Aim of this study is to determine the relationship between family support and the implementation of early mobilization in postoperative laparotomy patients in the Teratai Room of Dr. Soedirman Kebumen Hospital. Methods: This study is a correlational study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study involved 38 patients taken by purposive sampling. Instrument to measure family support using a questionnaire. The data were analyzed descriptively and correlatively. Results: Up to 63.2% of postoperative laparotomy patients had good family support, and up to 52.6% of postoperative laparotomy patients had sufficient early mobilization. The statistical test results showed that there was a relationship between family support and the implementation of early mobilization in postoperative laparotomy patients (p = 0.019). Recommendation: Nurses and the hospital can contribute to the patient's recovery process, namely by conducting counseling and conducting periodic controls for postoperative patients.
