Abstract
Background: When body tissue dies from insufficient blood supply, it is called gangrene and can be very dangerous. According to the pre-survey results for January through October 2022, there were 182 patients, with the condition being that the patients did not carry out wound care independently because they were afraid and could not bear the pain. Research objectives: This study aims to determine the characteristics of patients with diabetic gangrene at the clinic of Emanuel Hospital Banjarnegara. Research methods: Descriptive research using a quantitative approach. Sample determination using 57 patients in a consecutive sampling process. Data collection uses patient medical records and questionnaires. Data analysis uses Frequency Distribution analysis. Research result: The results showed that the majority of respondents aged 71-80 years were 23 (40.4%), respondents with female gender were 32 (56.1%), respondents with primary education level were 23 (40.4%), respondents with the status of not working as many as 21 (36.8%), respondents with high levels of blood sugar level were 48 (84.2%). Respondents with diabetic gangrene injuries grade 1 was 31 (54.4%), and respondents with diabetic gangrene injuries grade 2 was 26 (45.6%). Conclusion: The majority of respondents (40.4%) were 71-80 years. Females made up 56.1% of the respondent's gender. Primary education was the majority of respondents' education (40.4%). Most respondents' blood sugar levels (84.2%) fell into the high category. The majority of diabetic gangrene injuries were grade 2 (54.4%). Recommendations for future researchers: Future researchers can use this study as a reference, and it is best to increase the sample size and number of respondents to get the most complete and accurate results.
