Abstract
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease which is one of the factors that can reduce the quality of human resources. Diabetes Mellitus has an impact that is considered dangerous, this is because DM can cause complications. Control of blood sugar levels in DMsufferers is related to meal planning and dietary factors, this is because nutrition is closely related to the spread of DM. Objective: to determine the description of dietary compliance in diabetes mellitus patients at Aghisna Medika Kroya Hospital. Methods: This study uses analytic observational. A sample of 114 patients was taken by total sampling technique. Data analysis used the chi square test. Results: Characteristics of respondents at the Kroya 1 Health Center, the largest percentage was aged 46-55 years, 15 respondents (37.5%), female sex, 21 respondents (52.5%) and junior high school graduates, 13 respondents (32.5%). The level of adherence in the type of food diet the majority of respondents comply with a number (64.4%). The level of adherence in the diet to the food schedule of the majority of respondents is compliant (60.6%). Conclusion: The level of adherence to the diet, the number of meals, the type of diet, and the meal schedule of DM patients are mostly adherent. Recommendation: Future research is expected to examine several other variables that have a relationship with Diabetes Mellitus besides diet and eating factors such as lifestyle, physical activity, age etc.
