Abstract

Background: Gastritis is an acute and chronic inflammation of the gastric mucosa. The condition of gastritis patients in the emergency room came with complaints of pain. If pain was not treated quickly, it could cause the patient to experience neurological shock and could also lead to stomach ulcers and death. Management of non-pharmacological therapy that could be done to control pain complaints and reduce pain in gastritis patients was by using massage effleurage therapy. Objective: This study aimed to describe nursing care by giving effleurage massage therapy to reduce pain in gastritis patients. Research Method: This research used descriptive and case study methods. The subjects of this study consisted of 3 patients with a medical diagnosis of Dyspepsia. Result:: After being given 3 meetings with effleurage massage nonpharmacological therapy, the patients experienced a decrease in the pain scale from moderate to mild pain using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) measurement. Recommendation: Non-pharmacological therapy massage effleurage was effective in reducing pain levels, and this therapy could be applied by families at home, especially for gastritis sufferers.
