Abstract

Background: Hemorrhoids or what is often known as hemorrhoids, in 2021 it is estimated that 230 million people will suffer. Surgery is the most effective treatment and is highly recommended for patients with high-grade (grade III and IV) internal hemorrhoids. More than 80% of patients undergoing surgical procedures experience acute postoperative pain and approximately 75% of those experiencing postoperative pain report the severity as moderate, severe, to unbearable pain. Based on the results of the study, it showed that there was a difference in pain reduction after being given cold compresses on the back of the neck (nape) in post hemorrhoidectomy patients Objective: To provide nursing care to postoperative hemorrhoidectomy patients with acute pain at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital Method: Using a descriptive method with a case study approach. The case study subjects to be studied were 5 postoperative hemorrhoidectomy patients. The tools in this study were nursing care formats, Nursing Kits, NRS, and cold compress SOPs. Presentation of data by the author by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which are presented in the method of documentation and nursing care resumes Results: The results of the study showed that all five patients had the same main complaint of acute pain. Priority nursing diagnoses in Patients I-V are acute pain related to physical injury agents (surgical procedures) as evidenced in the five patients who complained of pain on a scale of 6. Nursing interventions and implementations carried out were pain management and cold compresses. The results of the nursing evaluation of the five postoperative hemorrhoidectomy patients showed a decrease in the pain scale after cold compresses were performed. The average patient experienced a decrease in pain of 2-3 scales. Recommendation: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference for the preparation of SOPs for non-pharmacological pain management in postoperative hemorrhoidectomy patients who experience acute pain.
