Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis is a contagious infectious disease caused by TB germs (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) which can attack organs, especially the lungs (Kemenkes, 2016). Non-compliance with the use of antituberculosis drugs can be influenced by therapeutic factors, patient factors, environmental factors, health system factors and socio-economic factors (Hayati, 2011). In order to achieve the success value of pulmonary TB treatment, evaluation, monitoring of TB drug use and Drug Swallowing Control (DSC) can be carried out. Objective: Knowing the level of treatment adherence in Tuberculosis patients at Prembun Hospital. Method: This type of research uses a descriptive design with a cross sectional design. The sample of this study is patients diagnosed with pulmonary TB with the inclusion criteria of TB patients who are undergoing treatment at the intensive stage at Prembun Hospital. The level of compliance was measured using the MMAS-8 questionnaire and data analysis using the chi square test. Results: The chi square test results showed that there was a relationship between gender (p=0.005) and stage of treatment (p=0.035) on the level of adherence to taking antituberculosis medication and there was no relationship between age (p=0.892), education (p=0.528), occupation ( p=0.660), income (p=0.373), distance to house (p=0.075), PMO (p=0.644) with compliance level (p>0.05). Conclusion: The results show that based on the MMAS-8 questionnaire filled in by 41 respondents, there were 26 people (63.4%) with quite adherence, non-adherence are 10 respondents (24.4%) who had a adherence with 5 people (12.2%) The results obtained showed a relationship between gender characteristics and the level of compliance with the use of anti-tuberculosis drugs with a p value of 0.005 and a relationship between the stage of treatment and the level of compliance with the use of drugs with a p value of 0.035 and there is no relationship between the characteristics of age, education, employment, income, Monitoring Drug Ingestion and compliance with the use of antituberculosis drugs in adult outpatients at Prembun Regional Hospital. Recommendation: It is necessary to carry out further research with a larger sample, improve monitoring of medication swallowing correctly and routinely, and increase education about the importance of compliance with the use of anti-tuberculosis drugs.
