Abstract
Background: Tuberculosis is a type of disease that is highly contagious and most commonly attacks the lungs. The behavior of the family of pulmonary TB sufferers has an important role in preventing the transmission of pulmonary TB. Knowledge of pulmonary TB sufferers about pulmonary TB has an important role in order to be able to carry out treatment until recovery, including in preventing transmission of pulmonary TB. Purposes: This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about pulmonary TB and the behavior to prevent TB transmission in families with pulmonary TB in the working area of the Kroya I Health Center. Method: This research method is correlation research with a cross sectional approach. The study population was all families of pulmonary TB patients at the Kroya 1 Health Center. A total of 42 samples were taken by total sampling technique. Data analysis used the Rank Spearman statistical test. Result: Most of the knowledge about pulmonary TB is in the good category, namely 15 people (35.7%). Most of the pulmonary TB prevention behaviors were in the good category, namely 28 people (66.7%). The results of the statistical test using Rank Spearman obtained a value of p = 0.001 which is smaller than = 0.05, meaning that there is a relationship between knowledge about pulmonary TB and prevention behavior of pulmonary TB at the Kroya 1 Health Center. Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge about pulmonary TB and pulmonary TB prevention behavior at the Kroya 1 Health Center.
