Abstract
Background: As many as 1.5 billion people suffer from hypertension in 2025. An estimated 10.44 million people will die each year due to hypertension. Patients with hypertension in Central Java Province reached 3.57%. the prevalence of hypertension sufferers in Cilacap in 2020 was 585.907 people and Binangun District ranked second highest after Sidareja, namely 55.128 person. Research Objectives: To find out are factors influencing hypertension in the elderly Research Methods: This study used a correlation analytic design with a cross- sectional approach. The sample in this study was all 60 elderly people. The research instrument used a questionnaire which consisted of 26 questions and observation. The statictical test of this study used the chi square. Research Results: It was found that some respondent had hereditary factors (53,3%), female sex (70,0%), obesity weight (45,0%), unhealthy eating patterns (66,7%), poo physical activity (60,0%), age at risk (75,5%), not smoking (81,7%). The results of the chi square test with hypertension variables are heredity (0.000), gender (0.346), body weight (0.003), diet (0.001), physical activity (0.002), age (1.000), smoking (0.462). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between heredity, weight, diet, physical activity and hypertension. There is no significant relationship between gender, age, smoking and hypertension. Recommendation: It is necessary to carry out further research using other variable factors that do not exist in this study such as stress, alcohol consumption, and a low-fiber diet.
