Abstract
Background : In Indonesia, the prevalence of dysmenorrhea reaches 64.25%. Indonesia is one of the five countries that have the highest level of cigarette consumption and cigarette production. This causes the potential for health problems caused by heavy smoking habits and by smokers to non-smokers is very large. The habit of inhaling cigarette smoke directly or indirectly is one of the factors that can trigger the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea. Cigarette smoke has toxins that are harmful to the health of the body, including the female reproductive system because the toxins contained in cigarette smoke disrupt the hormonal balance in women. Objective : To determine the relationship between passive smoking and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls in SMK. Method : This study used a quantitative approach through a cross sectional approach by doing a cross tab. The sample of this study amounted to 36 people with sampling using total sampling. The instrument in this study used a questionnaire. The analysis used is the chi square test, with univariate and bivariate analysis. Research Results: The results of the Chi Square Test are (0.019) <0.05, which means that there is a relationship between passive smoking and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea at SMK Ma'arif 9 Klirong. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between passive smoking and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea at SMK Ma'arif 9 Klirong. Recommendation: It is recommended to the Principal of SMK Ma'arif 9 Klirong to pay more attention to male students so that they don't smoke in the environment around the school and to family members who smoke so that they don't go anywhere when smoking to minimize the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea in women.
