Abstract

Background: Typhoid fever is an endemic disease that often occurs in children with a high morbidity rate in various countries in the world, including Indonesia. Children who contract typhoid fever due to hospitalization experience anxiety and stress due to loss of control, separation and fear of pain in their bodies. Play therapy is one of the therapies carried out by children to overcome the pressure, anxiety and difficulties they face. One play therapy that is different from regular play therapy is by using medical equipment called medical play. Objective: To analyze nursing care in pediatric patients with typhoid fever with anxiety nursing diagnoses at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Method: This scientific writing uses a descriptive case study design. The subjects of the case study were 5 pediatric patients who experienced anxiety problems. Collecting data with observation techniques, interviews and documentation studies. Results: after medical play therapy, the anxiety level decreased from moderate to mild anxiety. Conclusion: The results of implementing medical play innovations in children with typhoid fever can reduce anxiety levels.
