Abstract
Background: Phlebitis causes swelling, erythema, and discomfort in the veins. Children are an age group that is vulnerable to phlebitis. Treatment for treating pain due to phlebitis in children is with aloe vera compresses. Aloe vera is useful for preventing and managing phlebitis. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of aloevera compresses in reducing the degree of phlebitis and reducing the pain scale. Method: This research is descriptive research using a case report approach. The sample in this study was children who experienced phlebitis pain due to infusion with 5 responses. Pain measurement is carried out when the patient experiences pain, using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) pain observation sheet instrument every 3 (three) hours for a total of 9 (nine) hours every day for 3 (three) days using gauze. Research Results: The results of the study of 5 respondents showed that the five respondents experienced pain due to phlebitis. The diagnosis of the five respondents was acute pain related to a physical injury agent. The implementation given was an aloevera compress. From the results of the implementation, it was found that the aloe vera compress could reduce the scale of pain due to phlebitis. The five patients experienced a decrease in pain from pain scale 4 to pain scale 2 and 1. Conclusion: Aloevera compress can reduce the pain scale due to phlebitis.
