Abstract
Background: Decorative cosmetics are one of the things that can increase women's self-confidence. This causes many illegal decorative cosmetic products to circulate on the market. Students are one of the highest target markets for illegal cosmetic manufacturers. This phenomenon can also happen to students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Muhammadiyah University, Gombong, considering that many students use decorative cosmetics without looking at the content contained in the cosmetics used. In this case, the level of knowledge is one of the factors that can influence attitudes in choosing cosmetics. Research objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the attitude of female students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Muhammadiyah Gombong University towards decorative cosmetics that are safe from dangerous chemicals. Research Method: This research method is an analytical survey with a Cross Sectional approach. The research instrument used was a Google form which contained levels of knowledge and attitudes as a data collection tool. Research Results: The level of knowledge of respondents about decorative cosmetics in the good category was 51% of 100 respondents, sufficient was 34% of 100 respondents and less was 15% of 100 respondents. The attitude of respondents in choosing decorative cosmetics in the good category was 48%, 46% was good, and 6% was poor. The Wilcoxon test result for the level of knowledge and attitude was 0.841 (p > 0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge about cosmetics and attitudes towards choosing cosmetics (p > 0.05). Recommendation: For future researchers, it is hoped that further research can be carried out regarding factors that can influence attitudes in choosing decorative cosmetics, such as sociodemographics.
