Abstract
Background: If uncontrolled, asthma can cause fatal consequences if not treated properly. The Buteyko breathing technique is a way to overcome difficulties in breathing. Buteyko breathing technique was developed to treat asthma cases which are caused by hyperventilation Objective: To provide nursing care for asthma patients with spontaneous ventilation disorders in the emergency room at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Method: The research method is descriptive with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 asthma patients with the main problem of impaired spontaneous ventilation. The tools in this research are the nursing care format, observation sheet, and SOP for the Buteyko breathing technique. Presentation of data by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which is presented in the documentation method and nursing care resume Results: The assessment showed that the five patients had the main complaint of shortness of breath. The priority nursing diagnosis in Patients I-V is impaired spontaneous ventilation associated with respiratory muscle fatigue. The nursing intervention carried out was the Buteyko breathing technique. The nursing implementation carried out was the Buteyko breathing exercise. Nursing evaluation on the five patients showed that after the Buteyko breathing innovation was carried out, the problem of spontaneous ventilation disorders for the five clients was resolved. Conclusion: there was a decrease in symptoms of shortness of breath and improvement in tachycardia after innovative actions were carried out by carrying out Buteyko breathing exercises on clients. Recommendation: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference for preparing SOPs for the management of patients with spontaneous ventilation disorders in asthma patients
