Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a chronic condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is too high. High blood pressure can cause damage to blood vessels, which can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and other health problems. There are many factors that can increase the risk of hypertension, including heredity, age, cholesterol, obesity, and consumption of coffee (caffeine). Objective: to determine the factors that influence the incidence of hypertension in the working area of the Poncowarno Community Health Center, Kebumen. Methods: The research method is correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study were 94 hypertensive patients taken by Cluster Random Sampling. The instrument used is the observation sheet which is reinforced by the RM results. Data were analyzed univariately (descriptively) and correlatively using the Kendal Tau Correlation test. Results: There is no influence of heredity on the incidence of hypertension (p = 0.095). There is an effect of age on the incidence of hypertension (p=0.004). There is an effect of cholesterol on the incidence of hypertension (p = 0.002). There is an influence of obesity with the incidence of hypertension (p = 0.013). There is an effect of caffeine on the incidence of hypertension (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Age, cholesterol and obesity are related to the incidence of hypertension in the work area of the Poncowarno Health Center, Kebumen Regency
