Abstract
Background: Bronchopenumonia is a type of pneumonia caused by bacteria that occur in the walls of the bronchioles and surrounding lung tissue. Treating bronchopneumonia with non-pharmacological therapy, namely pursed lips breathing therapy and eucalyptus oil steam with hot water steam. Objective: To explain nursing care for bronchopneumonia patients with ineffective airway clearance nursing problems in the Aster Room at Rsud Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The sample consisted of 5 pediatric bronchopneumonia patients. The case study instrument uses the SOP for Pursed Lips Breathing Therapy and the SOP for Eucalyptus Oil Therapy with Hot Water and an observation sheet before and after giving therapy. Results: The results of the application carried out by the five patients, all of them experienced problems with ineffective airway clearance and were given interventions such as pharmacological therapy and non-pharmacological techniques. Eucalyptus Oil Steam Therapy with Hot Water for 5-10 minutes was carried out 2 times in the morning and afternoon , then continued Pursed Lips Breathing Therapy 2 times in the morning and evening for 3x24 hours with a therapy time of 5-10 minutes. Then observed before and after therapy. After 3 x 24 hours of application to the five patients, the results showed a decrease in respiratory rate in each patient, the RR was less than 40 x/minute, reduced breath sounds, crackles, increased sputum production, reduced coughing, reduced shortness of breath. Recommendation: The results of this study can be applied to patients who complain of ineffective airway clearance to reduce coughing, shortness of breath, additional breath sounds, crackles, increase sputum production and normalize respiration using non-pharmacological methods.
