Abstract
Background: Chronic pain is a health problem that is often experienced by the elderly, especially hypertensive elderly. Chronic pain can interfere with daily activities and reduce the quality of life of elderly people. Gerontic nursing care for hypertensive elderly with chronic pain aims to reduce pain and improve the quality of life of the elderly. Objective: To provide gerontic nursing care for hypertensive elderly with chronic pain in Kedungpring Kemranjen Village Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The research subjects were 5 hypertensive elderly people with chronic pain in Kedungpring Kemranjen Village. The instruments used were nursing care formats, Nursing Kits, and SOPs for innovative acupressure procedures Results: The results of the study carried out on hypertensive elderly showed that the main complaint was chronic pain in both the head and neck. 2. The priority nursing diagnosis for hypertensive elderly is chronic pain related to disease (Hypertension). The nursing implementation carried out is Pain Management (I.08238) which includes Observation (Identification of location, characteristics, duration, frequency. Quality, intensity of pain. Identification of pain scale. Identification of non-verbal pain responses. Identification of factors that aggravate and relieve pain). Therapeutic (Give acupressure relaxation distraction techniques to reduce pain). Control the environment that aggravates pain (eg room temperature, lighting, noise). The nursing implementation carried out was assessing the pain scale, measuring vital signs, and teaching acupressure relaxation distraction techniques to reduce pain. The results of the innovative action of providing acupressure therapy to hypertensive elderly with chronic pain showed a reduction in pain scale scores before and after implementing the innovation. Patient I experienced a decrease in scale 2. Patient II experienced a decrease in scale 3. Patient III experienced a decrease in scale 5. Patient IV experienced a decrease in scale 4. Patient V experienced a decrease in scale 4. Providing acupressure therapy to hypertensive elderly is effective in reducing signs and symptoms of chronic pain in the village Kedungpring Kemranjen Conclusion: Gerontic nursing care for hypertensive elderly with chronic pain using acupressure is effective in reducing pain and improving the quality of life of the elderly. Recommendation: Based on the results of this research, it is recommended to create a standard SOP for innovative acupressure procedures to increase the effectiveness of nursing care.
