Abstract
Background: Stroke, as reported by the World Health Organization (2018), is the second leading cause of death globally, following coronary heart disease. In Indonesia, stroke holds the position of the third major cause of death, contributing to a mortality rate of 138,268 individuals, equivalent to 9.7% of all deaths (2021), according to Saraswati. The prevalence of stroke in Indonesia demonstrated an increase of 10.9% in 2018 compared to 2013, with the highest incidence recorded in East Kalimantan Province (14.7%) and the lowest in Papua Province (4.1%). Notably, Central Java exhibited a 36.23% surge in stroke cases from 2015 to 2016, according to Riskesdas (2018). Objective: To provide an analysis of nursing care for non-hemorrhagic stroke patients, focusing on the predominant nursing issue of impaired physical mobility. Method: This study used a case study methodology. The study encompassed five subjects who have been diagnosed with non-hemorrhagic strokes based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The primary nursing diagnosis identified was impaired physical mobility due to diminished muscle strength. The intervention of physical mobility (L.05042) was augmented through specific indicators such as improved extremity movement, increased muscle strength, enhanced range of motion, reduced joint stiffness, and alleviated limited movement. Mobilization support (I.05173) interventions were executed, encompassing pain identification, monitoring overall condition during movement, family engagement in aiding patient movement improvement, instructing feasible mobilization techniques, active or passive joint range of motion training via music therapy innovation, elucidating mobilization's purpose and procedure, and promoting early mobilization. The intervention involved ROM exercises accompanied by music therapy innovation, adhering to SOP, conducted for 10–15 minutes over three consecutive days. The evaluation revealed enhanced muscle strength in patients who underwent ROM exercises combined with music therapy. Conclusion: ROM therapy augmented by music therapy innovation has a positive impact on muscle strength among non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. Recommendation: The application of ROM therapy incorporating music therapy innovation is recommended for enhancing muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients.
