Abstract
Background. Improving immunity and preventing morbidity and mortality in newborns (BBL) can be done by exclusive breastfeeding. The problem that is still being faced by health workers today in connection with the lack of intake of breast milk is jaundice in newborns. Mother's factors include milk not coming out on the first day after giving birth, mothers feeling that milk is coming out a little, lack of information about breastfeeding, flat nipples, blisters, swollen breasts, mastitis, and blocked milk ducts causing a lack of milk intake. General purpose. Explain nursing care for post partum mothers with knowledge deficits about caring for jaundiced babies at Prembun Hospital. Method This type of research is descriptive in the form of a case study with a sample of five clients of post partum mothers, the instruments used are questionnaires and observation sheets, the implementation is carried out with health education and demonstrations for 3 days 4 X meetings. Outcomes of nursing care. The problem of nursing knowledge deficits in post partum mothers about caring for icteric babies with health education interventions, implementing health education about caring for icteric babies at home and demonstrating how to fulfill breastfeeding in icteric babies by facilitating breastfeeding by evaluating the level of knowledge of the five post partum mothers about caring for icteric babies increase. Recommendation. The results of the study of five clients experienced an increase in knowledge in the good or increased category so that it needs to be implemented in health education discharge planning for post partum mothers who experience a deficit of knowledge about how to care for jaundiced babies at home.
