Abstract
Background: The learning system in Indonesia underwent significant changes following the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, during the pandemic, online learning was implemented. However, as the situation improved post-Covid-19, a transition to offline learning occurred. This shift has the potential to impact students in Indonesia, affecting their psychological well-being and coping mechanisms. Objective: To provide an overview of psychological issues and coping mechanisms among students at SMP Negeri 1 Karanggayam, Kebumen Regency, during offline learning after the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The research utilised a quantitative descriptive design, employing a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The study involves 264 respondents, and the DASS-42 questionnaire is employed for data collection. Results: Among the 264 respondents in the study, it was observed that 100 of them (39.4%) exhibited normal levels of anxiety, 187 respondents (70.8%) had normal stress levels, and 172 respondents (65.2%) demonstrated normal levels of depression. Additionally, the research revealed that 226 respondents (85.6%) utilized problem-focused coping mechanisms. Conclusion: The majority of students in the study exhibited normal psychological conditions, and the prevalent coping mechanism among them was problem-focused coping. Recommendation: Future researchers may consider investigating problem-focused coping skills in conjunction with optimism among students engaged in offline learning.
