Abstract
Background: Premature rupture of membranes is an event of sudden leakage of the amniotic fluid (amniotic fluid) during labor, causing pain and anxiety. The treatment for labor pain is massage effluerage, which can increase blood circulation, reduce tension in the muscles, and reduce pain response in the back. Objective: Describe nursing care by applying back effleurage massage in reducing intranatal pain during active phase 1 with KPD in the VK room at Prof. Dr. Hospital. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. Methods: This case study used a descriptive method involving 5 patients with labor pain in active phase 1 labor mothers who experienced PROM. The data obtained used pre and post observation sheets which would then be assessed to establish the diagnosis, so the action taken was giving back effluerage massage. Results: After the intervention of back effluerage massage was carried out, the result was that the level of pain was controlled, as evidenced by a decreased pain scale, where the five patients had a moderate scale ( scale 8-7) from a scale of 9-10 (severe pain) after giving massage for 2x30 minutes. Conclusion: The results of this case study show an improvement in the patient's condition with evidence of controlled pain levels before and after the application of back effluerage massage. Recommendation: Application in reducing pain levels is recommended to be carried out consistently in the intranatal stage 1 of the active phase with conditions of premature rupture of membranes with problems of labor pain, which can be carried out by nurses and taught to families and patients.
