Abstract

Background: Craniotomy is a surgical procedure that provides direct access to the brain by opening the skull bone. Craniotomy by opening the skull through a surgical process is carried out in cases of epidural hematoma, subdural hematoma, brain tumors, arteriovenous malformations, cerebral aneurysms, brain infections such as cerebral abscesses and brain trauma Objective: To explain nursing care for post-operative craniotomy patients with ineffective airway clearance nursing problems in the ICU Room at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto. Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The sample consisted of 3 post-craniotomy patients. The case study instrument uses clapping/vibration SOP, suction SOP and observation sheets before and after administration of clapping, vibration and suction therapy. Nursing Care Results: The results of the application carried out on 5 patients, all of them experienced ineffective airway clearance nursing problems and were given clapping therapy by patting the patient's back and chest with both hands to stimulate coughing for 1-2 minutes, then continuing with vibration How to vibrate the chest area for 10 seconds and do it for 3-10 minutes until the patient coughs, and if the patient has coughed, suck the mucus for 10-15 seconds then take measurements using an observation sheet. Conclusion: The results of implementing innovative nursing actions showed that there were respiratory frequency (RR) values in the normal range, pulse and oxygen saturation in the normal range or improving.
