Abstract
Background: Surgery is a medical procedure that can trigger anxiety in patients. In dealing with the relationship between surgery and anxiety, it is important for the medical team, especially nurses, to provide psychological support and adequate information to the patient. Handling anxiety in patients undergoing surgery can be done using relaxation and distraction techniques Research Objective: To explain nursing care for pre- and post-operative patients with anxiety in the IBS room at R.A.A Tjokronegoro Hospital, Purworejo Method: This type of research is a case study with research subjects of 5 preoperative patients in the IBS room. This research focuses on nursing care using lemoh orange aroma therapy to reduce patient anxiety. Presentation of data carried out in research writing uses presentation in the form of narratives and tables. Documentation is presented in the form of nursing care to draw conclusions based on subjective and objective data Research Results: From the results of the studies carried out on the five patients, it was found that there was a decrease in preoperative and post-operative anxiety after undergoing citrus lemon aroma therapy. This is proven by the data that the average anxiety before therapy was 17.2 and the average anxiety after therapy was 8.8, resulting in an average reduction of 8.4. Of the five patients, client 4 whose anxiety symptoms decreased the most, namely anxiety before therapy with a score of 18 (moderate) and anxiety after therapy with a score of 7 (mild), saw a decrease of 11.
