Abstract

Background: Febrile convulsions in children are seizures that are usually experienced by children due to an increase in temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or more. Febrile seizures can lead to behavioral disorders as well as decreased intelligence and academic achievement. There is a relationship between what respondents know about febrile seizures and the treatment provided. The more knowledge about febrile seizures, the better a person can handle them. Objective: To determine the knowledge of mothers on the handling of febrile seizures in children at PKUMuhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Polyclinic. Research Methods: The research method is descriptive with a cross-sectional approach. The author took data from52 mothers who had children with febrile seizures taken by total sampling. Data collection techniques with questionnaires. Data analysis in this study included univariate analysis (descriptive analysis). Results: Mothers with the age category of early adulthood (26-35 years) (50.0%), high school education (46.2%) and housewife work (42.3%). The level of knowledge ofmothers in handling febrile seizures at the PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Polyclinic is in the moderate category (59.6%). Recommendation: Future researchers can increase knowledge about febrile seizures and can provide regular health education to parents.
