Abstract

Background: Indonesia is a tropical country that has a fairly high prevalence of skin diseases. One of the skin diseases suffered by children is prickly heat. Prickly heat is a disorder of the skin due to excessive sweating accompanied by blockage of sweat gland channels. There are many ways to heal quickly and to stop the spread of prickly heat. Two of the ways are by performing medical (conventional) and non-medical (nonconventional) treatments. The medical treatment which is done too often will have an impact to the body, especially the children’s body because they have side effects. Whereas the non-medical treatment may be an action and traditional treatment that aims to avoid the medical treatment. Therefore, the writer makes an innovative non-medical treatment by using traditional materials. Those are coconut oil (VCO) creams made from natural ingredients, such as a mixture of tapioca starch, corn starch, pure coconut oil (virgin coconut oil) and olive oil as fragrances.
