Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the highest types of disease in Indonesia. Tuberculosis is a very serious disease that is often found, including in Indonesia. TB treatment requires a long period of time, so it requires family support to achieve medication adherence in TB patients. Family support is an important factor in compliance with tuberculosis treatment. Family support is part of the patient's enthusiasm for complying with taking TB medication because it shows sympathy and concern and does not avoid or distance the sufferer from the disease. Objective: To determine the relationship between family support and medication adherence in drug-resistant tuberculosis patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Method: The research method used in this study was descriptive correlation. The sample consisted of 31 patients. Bivariate analysis used the Spearmank Rank (Rho) correlation test. Results: Family support in the good category was 22 (71.0%), family support was not good as much as 9 (29.0%). The majority of medication compliance was in the adherent category with the number 28 (90.3%), non-adherence amounted to 3 people (9.7%). Conclusion: there is a relationship between family support and adherence to taking medication in RO TB patients with a p-value of 0.003 with a correlation value of 0.512 Recommendation: For hospitals to hold special routine events or meetings for patient families to provide tricks to increase family support for RO TB patients.
