Abstract
Background: Counseling is a very important aspect in the service of Family Planning Program. The making decision tool used is made by WHO in counseling of choosing contraceptive. Most of acceptor candidates still do not know the steps of installation of contraceptives. The writer, therefore, is interested in using a modified-making decision tool by additional steps in contraceptive installation. This is to ensure the client in choosing a contraceptive. Objective: To implement midwifery care in contraceptive counseling by using modified-making decision tool. This was done by additing steps of contraceptive installation steps towards Mrs. W (22 yars old) with P1A0 in private midwifery clinic of Midwife Diana Yulita A., Amd. Keb. To know the characteristics and certainty of clients in implementing family planning. And also to know the side effects of contraceptive use of Mrs.W. Method: The study uses a descriptive study with qualitative approach. The design used in this method is case study. The sample is Mrs. W, 22 years old with P1A0. Technique of data collection was by conducting interview, physical examination, and observation. Results: After having counseling by using a modified-making decision tool with additional installation steps, Mrs. W no longer felt worried and afraid to use the implant contraceptive. So Mrs. W willingly chose to use implant as her contraceptive. And at last she was willingly have the implant contraceptive installed on April 30. During the monitoring it was found side effect, such as a little dizzy and amenorrhoea. Conclusion: Counseling in choosing contraceptive by using a modified-making decision tool which was done by additing installation steps can improve the client’s knowledge about contraceptive installation steps. Besides, it can ensure clients in choosing a contraceptive as well.
