Abstract
Background: Stroke prevalence in Indonesia is 10.9%, according to data from the 2018 Basic Health Survey (Riskesdas). This study focuses on individuals who have had a non-hemorrhagic stroke and investigates the intervention of rubber ball handheld therapy, which is aimed to improve muscular tone by promoting muscle contraction and relaxation through rubber ball gripping activities. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate at nursing care for non-hemorrhagic stroke patients who had major nursing problems due to physical mobility disorders. Method: This research employs a case study approach, with subjects selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria with non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. Nursing Care Outcomes: The primary nursing diagnosis is limited physical mobility accompanied with decreased muscle strength. Physical mobility outcomes include increased limb movement, improved muscle strength, and improved range of motion (ROM). Nursing interventions include mobilization support with intervention, assessment of physical tolerance for movement, monitoring of heart rate and blood pressure prior to mobilization, continuous evaluation of patient condition during mobilization, facilitation of movement through rubber ball handheld therapy, involvement of the patient's family in assisting movement improvement, and promotion of early mobilization. These interventions were carried out in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOP) and lasted 10-15 minutes over three consecutive days, both in the morning and evening. All five patients' evaluation findings revealed greater muscle strength. Conclusion: There is an effect of giving rubber ball grip therapy on physical mobility disorders.
