Abstract
Background: Technology development in developing countries result in the rise of non-communicable disease (NCDs), such as hypertension. The mortality rate in Indonesia is dominated by non-communicable. Gender and obesity are factors that cause high blood pressure. Purpose: To identify the factors of high blood pressure on hypertension patients who participated in chronic disease management program. Method: This study was descriptive correlational research with a cross-sectional approach. Sixty respondents of the chronic disease management program in Sempor II Public Health Center participated in this study. The study was conducted in April-Mei 2021. A structured questionnaire was distributed for respondents to get research data. Result: Thirty-six of women respondents always attend the chronic disease management program (72%). Twenty-four respondents (48%) were in normal Body Mass Index (BMI). More than half of respondents got hypertension (62%). The proportion of the female who suffered hypertension more than males and it happened on respondents with obesity. There was a significant association between gender and body mass index with patients’ blood pressure respondents (p=0.000<0.01). Multivariate analysis data showed that body mass index has a significant relationship with the blood pressure of respondents who participated in the chronic disease management program Conclusion:. There was a significant association between gender and body mass index with patients’ blood pressure of respondents who participated in the chronic disease management program. Recommendation: Further researcher can focus on other factors that influencing high blood pressure, such as age, diet, salty and fatty food, stress, and substance abuse.
