Abstract
Background, The background for this research is that in the ICU room at Siaga Medika Hospital, Purbalingga, data was obtained that in 2023, 67 patients were installed with ETTs with mechanical ventilators from March to July. The number in 2023 will increase more than in 2022. In 2022, 65 patients were installed with ETTs with mechanical ventilators (January-December). This data proves that patients using mechanical ventilators have experienced a fairly high increase compared to the previous year. It is important to pay attention to the decrease in oxygen saturation due to suction procedures performed on patients who are mechanically ventilated with an endotracheal tube (ETT) so that cases of life-threatening respiratory failure can be prevented. Research Objectives, the aim of this study is to analyze differences in oxygen saturation levels before and after endotracheal suction procedures in patients installed with mechanical ventilators with ETT in the ICU at RSU Siaga Medika Purbalingga. Research Method, the method in this research is this research uses a quantitative method with a Pre-experimental design using the One Group Pre Test Post Test Design approach. Measurements were taken before and after treatment. The sample used was 30 respondents. Research Results, the results of this research are based on the Mann Whitney-U test, the pre-test value obtained is a mean value of 93,33, then the standard deviation is 1,00. Post test scores obtained a mean value of 99,56 and a standard deviation of 0,882. The p value is 0.000 < 0.05, this means there is a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is a difference in oxygen saturation levels before and after suction is given. Recommendations for further research, so that maximum results can be carried out by taking one type of medical diagnosis so as to further reduce bias in the research.
