Abstract
Background: According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, (2019) the incidence of hospital infections reaches around 3-21% (average 9%) or more than 1.4 million inpatients. One way to prevent HAIs is by using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Compliance with using PPE is very influential in the process of preventing HAIs. Compliance with the use of PPE is influenced by many factors, including predisposing factors (age, level of education, length of service, knowledge and attitudes), enabling factors (facilities, facilities, infrastructure and information). Objective: Analyze the factors that influence nurses' compliance in using PPE at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Method: This type of research is analytical (survey) with a cross sectional approach. The samples taken were 105 patient nurses in October-November 2023 using total sampling technique. Bivariate analysis uses multiple regression. Results: The majority of nurses adhered to (86%) and non-compliant nurses (14%). There is no influence between education and nurses' compliance in using PPE at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. There is an influence between length of service, motivation and knowledge with nurses' compliance in using PPE at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital with a p value <0.05. Conclusion: The most dominant factor influencing nurses' compliance in using PPE is knowledge. Recommendation: Nurses are advised to increase compliance in using PPE according to SOP by paying more attention to knowledge level factors so as to minimize nosocomial infections.
