Abstract

Background: The national exclusive breastfeeding rate in 2021 was 56.9%, exceeding the 2021 program target of 40%. The percentage of exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Central Java is 67.4%. Providing anything other than exclusive breastfeeding, including water, poses risks of making the baby sick and reducing the mother's breast milk supply. Offering alternatives to exclusive breastfeeding can make the baby less hungry, leading to a reluctance to breastfeed. Objective: To determine the relationship between the Level of Knowledge and Family Support for Exclusive Breastfeeding at RSUD KRT Setjonegoro Wonosobo. Method: This research utilized a correlational method with a Cross-Sectional approach. The sample selection technique employed purposive sampling, with a total of 75 mothers with children aged 7 to 12 months in the Pediatric Ward and Pediatric Clinic at RSUD KRT Setjonegoro Wonosobo. Results: Distribution based on education level indicates that the majority have a medium level of education, accounting for 37 (49.3%). The most common age category falls within the 21-30 age range, with 42 (56%) respondents, and the predominant occupation is employee and civil servant, totaling 31 (41.3%). In terms of exclusive breastfeeding, the results show that 20 (26.7%) respondents provide exclusive breastfeeding, while 41 (54.7%) respondents state that family support is insufficient. Bivariate analysis results with a P Value of 0.031 indicate a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the respondents' knowledge level. The P Value of 0.000 suggests a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and family support. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the level of knowledge and family support regarding exclusive breastfeeding.
