Abstract

Introduction: Postpartum hemorrhage commonly happens during the first two hours after delivery. The amount of blood loss during the fourth stage of labor cannot be measured precisely so it is important to monitor this stage. Objective: To identify the effect of nutritional status, maternal hemoglobin levels, and SPEOS methods (Endorphin, Oxytocin, and Suggestive Massage Stimulation) on the amount of blood loss during the fourth stage of labor and breast milk production of postpartum mothers. Method: This quantitative study used a correlational method with a cross- sectional design. This study involved 30 post-partum mothers selected using an accidental sampling technique. Results: Nutritional status influenced the amount of blood loss during the fourth stage of labor and breast milk production with a p-value of 0.004 > 0.05 and 0.000 < 0.05. Then, maternal hemoglobin level influenced the amount of blood loss during the fourth stage of labor and breast milk production with a p-value of 0.000< 0.05 and 0.034< 0.05. The application of SPEOS methods (Endorphin, Oxytocin, and Suggestive Massage Stimulation) influenced the amount of blood loss and breast milk production of postpartum mothers with a p-value of 0.003< 0, 05. Conclusion: Nutritional status, maternal hemoglobin levels, and SPEOS methods (Endorphin, Oxytocin, and Suggestive Massage Stimulation) influence the amount of blood loss and breast milk production of postpartum mothers
