Abstract
Background: Triage is the process of classifying patients based on the level of emergency of their condition. Proper triage is critical to ensure that patients who need immediate care get it first. Triage errors can result in patients who need immediate care not getting it first, or conversely, patients who don't need immediate care getting it. Objective: This study aims to determine the factors that influence the accuracy of triage in the emergency room at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Kebumen Region. Method: The study used a cohort method. The population and sample taken in this study were nurses in the emergency room at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Kebumen Region in 2023, including 13 people at PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital, 13 people at PKU Muhammadiyah Petanahan Hospital, and 14 PKU Muhammadiyah Kutowinangun Hospital. The population and sample were 40 Nurses were taken by total sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively and correlatively. Results: It was found that there was a relationship between response time, knowledge, and skills with the accuracy of triage and there was no relationship between crowdedness and the accuracy of triage in the emergency room of PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Kebumen Region. Recommendation: Conduct ongoing training for ED staff, especially nurses, to sharpen their triage skills.
