Abstract
Background: Non-hemorrhagic stroke is caused by partial or complete cessation of blood flow to the brain due to blocked blood vessels. This condition can result in symptoms such as muscle weakness in the limbs, leading to impaired physical mobility. Treatment is essential to improve muscle strength, finger grip, and prevent contractures, including the use of lateral prehension grip exercises. Objective: The aim of this research was to describe nursing care provided, including lateral prehension grip therapy, to non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with nursing problems related to impaired physical mobility. Method: This case study employed a descriptive approach involving five patients who had experienced impaired physical mobility due to non-hemorrhagic stroke. Data were collected using pre- and post-observation sheets, which had been previously evaluated to confirm the diagnosis. The intervention administered was the implementation of lateral prehension grip exercises. Result: The primary nursing diagnosis identified was addressed through nursing interventions, specifically the utilization of lateral prehension grip exercises. The results indicated that patients experienced improvements, including increased muscle strength and finger grip after engaging in lateral prehension grip exercises. Recommendations: Nurses are encouraged to apply lateral prehension grip therapy to address nursing problems related to impaired physical mobility in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients.
