Abstract
Background: Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that is still a global concern. In Indonesia, it is ranked third for all ages. The lungs are the main respiratory organ in respiration. When the lungs are infected, inflammation or inflammation will occur in the lungs which results in secretions/exudates which over time will accumulate so that excess production occurs. Secretions that have accumulated become difficult to remove which causes accumulation of secretions in the airways, resulting in obstructed airway problems. The main problem in patients with tuberculosis is ineffective airway clearance which is characterized by dyspnea, rhonchi, excessive sputum, ineffective coughing. Objective: The purpose of this writing is to obtain nursing care regarding the application of effective coughing as an ineffective airway management in Tuberculosis sufferers. Method: This paper uses a descriptive case study design. The case study subjects were 5 tuberculosis patients who experienced ineffective airway clearance problems. Collecting data with observation techniques, interviews and documentation studies. Results : The main nursing diagnosis that emerged in the five Tuberculosis patients was ineffective airway clearance. After intervention for 3 x 8 hours, it is hoped that airway clearance will be effective with the criteria being that airway clearance will increase, effective coughing will increase and sputum production will decrease. Implementation was carried out according to nursing intervention, evaluation of the results showed that effective coughing had increased, wheezing and rhonchi had decreased, sputum production had decreased, breathing rhythm was regular, breathing frequency was normal (16-20 x/minute). Recommendation: Nurses are expected to be able to apply effective coughing to deal with ineffective airway clearance nursing problems in tuberculosis patients.
