Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis is a major infectious disease that is still a public health problem in Indonesia. Patient compliance in following TB treatment is influenced by coping mechanisms, and family support plays an important role in improving coping. Objective: to determine the relationship between family support and coping mechanisms in TB patients at the Petanahan Community Health Center Method: The research uses a correlation method with a cross-sectional approach. The study involved 40 patients with a total sampling method. The instrument or measuring tool used in the research is a questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively and correlatively. Results: Family support for TB patients is in the sufficient category (37.5%). Coping mechanisms in TB patients are in the adaptive category (55.0%). There is a relationship between family support and coping mechanisms in TB patients at the Petanahan Community Health Center. The better the family support for TB patients, the more adaptive the coping mechanisms for TB patients will be Recommendation: It is hoped that future research will compare coping mechanisms in patients undergoing treatment in the intensive phase with patients undergoing treatment in the advanced phase and examine more factors that can improve coping mechanisms in TB patients.
