Abstract
Background: Patients who experience anxiety before surgery are carried out due to fear of surgical procedures such as pain in surgical wounds, injections, loss of parts of their body organs and the threat of disability and death. Family support is a form of encouragement that can reduce the pressure and anxiety that patients feel before surgery. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and anxiety levels in preoperative patients at the Central Surgical Installation of RSU Siaga Medika Banyumas. Method: This research is a correlation analysis study with a cross-sectional approach, the population in this study is pre ORIF surgery patients and the sample in this study was 56 patients. Results: There is a significant relationship between family support and anxiety in preoperative patients at RSU Siaga Medika Banyumas with a significance value of 0.0001 and a correlation coefficient of -0.501. Conclusion: The higher the family support the patient receives, the lower the level of anxiety that patients will experience pre-ORIF surgery at the Central Surgical Installation of RSU Siaga Medika Banyumas. Recommendation: Further research is needed to find other variables that are confounders of anxiety, or to control these variables carefully such as the patient's history of surgery, the patient's experience of pain, and other surgical procedures
