Abstract

Background : The prevalence of anemia in pregnant women worldwide is 41.8%, ranging from 31% to 64% in various regions. South and Southeast Asia contribute 58% of cases in developing countries, while in other regions such as North America, Europe, and Australia, anemia due to iron deficiency is rare. In Indonesia, in 2020, the provision of Iron Supplementation Tablets to pregnant women only reached 64.0%, far below the 2020 Renstra target of 98%. In Central Java Province, the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women in the same year reached 27.61%. Purpose : To determine the relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women and their compliance with consuming iron supplementation tablets at Amanah Umat Purworejo Hospital. Methods : Non-experimental research method with a correlational approach. This approach is used to understand the relationship between variables without any intervention or treatment. Results : There is a significant relationship between knowledge and compliance level of iron tablet consumption with a p-value of 0.000 and an R-value of 0.570. Additionally, there is a significant relationship between attitude and compliance level of iron tablet consumption with a p-value of 0.000 and an R-value of 0.627. Conclusion : The knowledge and attitude possessed by pregnant women will influence the level of compliance in consuming iron supplementation tablets (Fe) at Amanah Umat Purworejo Hospital. Recommendation : Healthcare providers at Amanah Umat Purworejo Hospital are expected to encourage pregnant women and their families to attend Antenatal Care visits, which include providing iron tablets (Fe) during the 10T examination, particularly emphasizing their importance in preventing anemia during childbirth.
