Abstract

Background: The recommended intraoperative blood pressure is approximately 10% of baseline, with approximately 20% of patients exhibiting high blood pressure (> 130/80 mmHg). Elevated blood pressure in preoperative patients, including those undergoing sectio cesarean, may impede intraoperative lifesaving procedures due to the heightened risk of massive bleeding and extended post-operative recovery. Anxiety is identified as one of the factors contributing to increased preoperative blood pressure in cesarean section patients. Objective: To determine the correlation between anxiety levels and increased blood pressure in pre-sectio cesarean patients at RSU Siaga Medika Banyumas. Method: This study is a correlation research with a cross-sectional approach. The population was pre-operative cesarean patients in the Maternity Room, with a sample size of 86 patients. Results: A significant relationship is observed between anxiety and increased blood pressure in preoperative sectio cesarean patients in the Maternity Room at RSU Siaga Medika Banyumas. The significance values are 0.0001, with correlation coefficients of 0.733 for systolic blood pressure and 0.501 for diastolic blood pressure. Conclusion: Lower levels of anxiety experienced by patients correlated with decreased blood pressure before sectio cesarean surgery in the Maternity Room at RSU Siaga Medika Banyumas. Recommendation: Further study is warranted to identify potential confounding variables such as delivery history, surgical history, and current stage of labor
