Abstract
Background: The causes of maternal deaths are haemorrhage (42%), preeklamsia/eklamsia (13%), old labor(9%), sepsis infection (10%), and other causes(15%). Those causes can come during the pregnancy or during the process of labor (childbirth). Partus and preeclamsia/eklamsia caused by anxiety may cause mother die either during the pregnancy or the process of labor. (Indonesia Health Dept, 2015). The anxiety of pregnant mother in trimester III can be reduced by applying diaphragm respiration and classical music therapy. This therapy is a kind of breathing quietly, orderly, and accompanied by the rhythm of classical music. Objective: To apply diaphragm respiration therapy and classical music therapy to reduce anxiety of pregnant mothers in trimester III primigravida. Method: This study uses descriptive analytic method. It was done by depicting and describing the facts obtained through assessment using questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The application of the therapy was during March – May 2017. Result: After applying diaphragm respiration therapy and classical music towards3 participants, their anxiety decreased. This was decrease was from mild anxiety becaqme light anxiety. Conclusion: Diaphragm respiration and classical music therapy can reduce the anxiety of pregnant mothers in trimester III primigravida.
