Abstract
Background, The background of this research is that stroke is one of the main causes of death and occupies the third position in the world after dangerous diseases and cancer. In stroke patients, 70%-80% of patients experience hemiparesis (muscle weakness on one side of the body) with 20% can experience increased motor function and around 50% experience residual symptoms in the form of impaired motor function/muscle weakness in the extremities if they do not get good therapeutic options Research Objectives, the aim of this research is to determine the effect of Ball Grasping therapy on muscle strength in stroke patients at RSU Siaga Medika Purbalingga Research Method, the method of this research uses experiments with a quantitative type of research. The population used was all outpatient stroke patients registered at the Siaga Medika Purbalingga General Hospital in 2022, totaling 46 patients, while the sample used was 32 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Research Results, the results of this study: The muscle strength of stroke patients before being given Ball Grasping therapy was 2.69 with a median of 3.00, the muscle strength of stroke patients after being given Ball Grasping therapy was 4.00 with a median of 4.00, the muscle strength of stroke patients at RSU Siaga Medika Purbalingga with P- Value 0.000 (<0.05) Conclusion, the conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of Ball Grasping therapy on muscle strength in stroke patients at RSU Siaga Medika Purbalingga with a P-Value of 0.000 (<0.05) Recommendations for further research are expected to use a larger sample of respondents and variables in order to obtain maximum data.
