Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition that occurs when there is an increase in the amount of glucose in an individual's blood because the body is unable to produce enough insulin or the body does not effectively use the insulin it produces. The severity of DM can affect the elements of life for people with DM and experience more severe risks such as cardiovascular disease, nerves and can cause ulcers in the body. If it is severe, amputation, retinopathy, kidney failure can be carried out, which can cause death. Even death if not immediately handled and carried out proper control. Compliance with Self Care Management aims to improve the ability of sufferers to meet their needs independently, so that sufferers are able to prevent and manage DM by complying with treatment and advice given by health workers which in turn can prevent complications. Objective: To determine compliance with self care management of type II diabetes mellitus sufferers in the work area of the Poncowarno Community Health Center, Kebumen Regency Research Method: This research is a non-experimental research with a descriptive design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. The number of respondents in this study were 100 respondents. Research Results: The characteristics of the majority of type 2 diabetes mellitus sufferers are mostly male (70.0%), in the elderly age range (60 – 74 years) (50.0%), elementary school education (39.0%), and work as farmers (43.0%). %). Compliance with Dietary Regulations for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients was in the poor category (54.0%). Physical Activity Compliance for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients in the good category was (75.0%). Compliance with Blood Sugar Monitoring in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients is in the poor category (90.0%). Adherence to medication therapy for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus sufferers was in the poor category (71.0%). Compliance with Foot Care in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients is in the poor category (90.0%). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the majority of people with diabetes mellitus in the work area of the Poncowarno Health Center have poor adherence to self care management. Recommendation: Future researchers can examine the factors that influence adherence to type II diabetes mellitus self-care management.
