Abstract
Background: The lifestyle of today's teenagers, which tends to be less regular, could be at risk of causing diabetes in the future. It is estimated that 87% of teenagers now like to consume fast food or junk food/drinks. There are currently 537 million people with DM worldwide. From the 2018 Riskesda results, it was found that the prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus in Indonesia in the age group ≥ 15 years reached 2%. DM cases in Indonesia were recorded at 1,017,290 people, apart from that for the Central Java region it was recorded at 132,565, of the 132,565, 96,794 were aged ≥15 and 713,783 throughout Indonesia. Objective: to find out how the behavior of teenagers who are at risk of developing DM is described Method: This research uses a quantitative descriptive method with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 157 with a questionnaire link instrument Research Results: The results of this study with a sample of 157 students showed that knowledge about DM was in the good category (59.2%), attitude towards preventing DM was in the sufficient category (96.2%), and action was in the sufficient category (88.5%). Conclusion: The behavior of students in the 3rd semester of the Nursing Study Program at Muhammadiyah University, Gombong, including Knowledge, Attitudes and DM prevention measures, is quite good. Recommendation: For further research, it is hoped that it can examine the relationship between behavior and the incidence of DM in adolescents.
