Abstract
Background: Bronchial asthma is a chronic non-communicable disease that causes shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. Symptoms of bronchial asthma include wheezing, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest heaviness and coughing. The diagnosis that arises in this case is ineffective breathing patterns, to overcome these problems can use non-pharmacological therapy, namely buteyko breathing technique therapy. The buteyko breathing technique is to slow down the breathing frequency to normal, improve diaphragmatic (chest) breathing and learn to breathe through the nose. Purpose: Describe nursing care for asthma patients with buteyko breathing therapy in the Emergency Department Method: This research uses a descriptive case study method. Giving buteyko breathing technique therapy is carried out for 3 days then to find out the effectiveness of this technique is measured by changes in the value of respiration rate, oxygen saturation, and additional breath sounds and recorded on the observation sheet. Result: After being given buteyko breathing therapy for 3 days, results were obtained in 3 patients with an average change in decreased respiration rate, increased Spo2, and no wheezing. Conclusion: The use of buteyko breathing technique therapy to reduce shortness of breath in asthma patients is proven by a decrease in RR values, an increase in Spo2, and additional breath sounds. Recommendation: Buteyko technique can be an alternative non-pharmacological therapy to overcome the problem of shortness of breath in asthma patients.
