Abstract
Background: The stage of family development with adolescence takes place when the first child turns 12 years old, a sign of the start of the female adolescent phase is menstruation. Complaints that often arise during menstruation are menstrual pain. Menstrual pain has an impact on disrupted activities, discomfort, concentration, and decreased motivation to learn. Objective: Provide an overview of family nursing care at the adolescent development stage with ineffective health management problems. Methods: This study used descriptive methods and conducted for 5-6x meetings. The data collection used anamnesa techniques, observation, physical examination, and the application of ginger compress therapy into living habits during menstrual pain. Respondents consisted of 3 families with adolescent girls who experienced menstrual pain. Before ginger compress therapy was performed, pain scale measurements, health education and demonstrations were carried out. After that, pre and post observations were made of ginger compress therapy. Results: The three families are nuclear family types with adolescent developmental stages who experience abdominal pain during menstruation. The nursing problems that arise are ineffective health management and family coping inability. The planned interventions are family recognition of problems, deciding problems, caring for family members, modifying the environment, and utilizing health facilities. Implementation in the three families was carried out health education, demonstration and application of ginger compress therapy for 2-3 days. Recommendation: Ginger compress therapy can be given to adolescent girls who experience abdominal pain during menstruation to reduce abdominal pain and regulate daily living habits during menstruation.
