Abstract

Background: Premenstrual syndrome is a collection of symptoms both physical and psychological that appear 7-10 days before menstruation and tend to subside at the start of menstruation. Young women need education about premenstrual syndrome. One method that can be used is the stratagem method. Objective: Knowing the effect of health education with the stratagem method on the level of knowledge of premenstrual syndrome in adolescent girls at SMP N 1 Kutowinangun. Method: This study used a pre-experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test. There were 72 of people with stratified random sampling techniques. The instrument was using 15-items of knowledge questionnaire. The data analysis using Wilcoxon test. Results: The results showed that there was an influence of health education with the stratagem method on the level of knowledge of premenstrual syndrome in adolescent girls (p = 0.000) Conclusion : Premenstrual syndrome health education using stratagem methods is effective to increase adolescent knowledge. Recommendation: Future research is expected to conduct further research on stratagem methods and imposed on a wider range of subjects
