Abstract
Background: Advanced adulthood is the final stage in everyone, which is over 60 years of age, which greatly affects the process of physical, psychological, and social changes. According to WHO (World Health Organization) data, gouty arthritis cases are a disease that causes 68% of deaths worldwide. The incidence of gouty arthritis in Indonesia is estimated to be between 1.6 and 13.6/100,000 people, and the incidence rate increases with age (WHO, 2020). Gouty arthritis is a condition characterized by excessive uric acid levels in the human physique, due to increased production, decreased renal excretion, or increased consumption of foods high in purines. Objective: Describe nursing care for acute pain in the elderly with gouty arthritis in Pekuncen Village, Sempor District. Methods: This scientific paper used a case studied with a gerontic nursing approached which included assessment, determining diagnosis, planning, carried out actions, and carried out nursing evaluations on 3 elderly people with different genders. Results: The results obtained have proven that warm ginger compress therapy can effectively reduce joint pain in the elderly with gout. Recommendation: Acute pain caused by gout can be treated with warm ginger compress therapy for 7 days to reduce pain comprehensively
